Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara Review
So with all the hype of "fibre lash" mascaras I just had to try one out!
I decided to try the Maybelline Illegal Length mascara which claims to extend lashes by upto 4mm with its fibre-enriched formula, thinking 4mm extra on my eyelashes would be fantastic! although I am not going to measure them... this is what I found with the product!
I do have I would say medium length lashes which with the right mascara I can achieve very long lashes, this is before I applied any mascara -
The formula itself is thick from first use, so none of that waiting for it to dry out a bit to get the best effect! The wand is quite long and triangular so I found it easy to coat those tiny inner lashes, although I found the wand to be a bit hard and bristly on the roots of my lashes.
The outcome of this mascara I would say is quite lengthening and does separate lashes well but made my lashes look very long and skinny with very little volume, which as most people I would like a bit of both!
I also found that the fibres in the formula only attached themselves to the tops of a few lashes as you can see in the pictures below, I used two coats and this is the end effect I achieved!
Here's a picture below of the before and after effect -
Overall I think this is a good mascara and certainly does add length to your lashes but I don't think I would purchase it again as I prefer a more volumised look!
The only downside to this is it is not very "contact lense friendly" I found that throughout the day it got a little flaky and bits kept sticking to my eye (lovely I know) I am not sure if this was because of the fibres though and it was these that were falling into my eyes, or that may just be a silly conclusion... :) but it did not smudge or run even after a sunbed and a busy day running about!
I would rate this 8/10!
RRP £8.99
Good review thanks for sharing :) Your eyelashes look quite long any way and the mascara has just made your lashes look thicker from the photos. I'm so fussy with mascara's and hate it when they go clumpy ha ha *I'm such a fussy poo*
